"The Dogs Day of Summer"
This piece reflects a small part of the interesting personality of the breed of dog known as a Basenji. Since they hate water and "love" cats and have a personality like a cat, I chose to put a "cat" floaty around the dogs neck and to have him staying on the beach. It was my honor to have a interior designer spot it at IPQF and want it for a design they were doing for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. This piece is on display in a visitation family room at the hospital along with several other artist's work themed around animals and the ocean. Technique: Soft edge applique on wool felt base. Hand painted. Free motion quilting. Materials: Wool felt, hand dyed, batik and commercial cotton. Stewart Gill paint and Tyvek. 38" x 28" Sold Public collection Children's Hospital of Los Angeles Special exhibit for Noble Seasons "Summer" for Quilts on the Wall. Traveled extensively for one year. Sold at PIQF. |
