detail of Laura's quilt (2012) Today is the big day (or evening as the case may be). The fiber art pieces are hung, the description cards are placed, and the reception for the show opening is tonight from 5:30pm to 7pm.
Textures Fiber Artists have been displaying at the Gallery at the Merc in Temecula for several years, I believe this is year 7. The Gallery at the Merc is a great gallery space to show art.
David and I attended the photo shoot for the finished quilts last weekend and the art is wonderful. Some pieces are fully fiber art and some blend the tradition of quilting into fiber art work. All the artists will be in attendance tonight so this is a great time to ask about processes and designs.
Come by and enjoy the main exhibit pieces and also the special exhibit pieces. The theme this year is "Weather". Art goes from the literal to the esoteric in interpreting the theme. Visitors in the past have made a game of seeing if they could match the artist to the main art work and the special exhibit work. Artists do not always work in a similar style in both pieces so it can be quite a challenge.
Light refreshments and drinks will be served. Wine and beer will be available for purchase from the theater cantina area.
