Last week I spent two days in a very intensive seminar in San Diego. I think I spent all day Sunday recovering from the Friday and Saturday event! Because of that, I missed going to the Road to California quilt show. That was the only downside of the seminar. There was an incredible amount of information provided and it was extremely helpful in several areas.
Most of the seminar focused on finding and distilling your unique skills and how to leverage them into marketing yourself. It was about creating a product that can be sold repeatedly. It was interesting and I took lots of notes and will be viewing the video again to solidify some of the points and tips.
Part of what I participated in was a "back stage" tour of what it takes to put on such an event. Since I am a bit of a techno geek it was fun to see all the equipment and how the staging and editing is done. It was quite amazing seeing the teleprompters that give a count down so time targets are met.
I own the book and have been working through the exercises but it was extremely helpful to work through them in a "class" setting. I met a lot of very interesting people who have some incredible ideas and plans for their "what". I really enjoyed being able to ask questions and get clarification on some of the points I struggled with while reading the book. Sometimes I just over analyze what I am doing.
Have you participated in seminars or classes that you found helpful? What did you learn?
