I got out my previously 'used for wine dyeing' bucket, filled it with hot water, dumped in the dye and stirred. I lovingly crammed my hideous tan pants into the bucket, made sure it was well submerged and let it sit. I did not stir as I wanted a mottled look to the finished product. I pulled them out later, rinsed and dried, and had a wonderful pair of dark plum pants.
After wearing them around a bit, I decided I would over dye them again with another color. Heading down to the store, I scanned the available options and decided on turquoise. Got home, repeated the process of water, dye, dunking and then got crazy busy with life. My pants lived in that bucket for a week.
Ack! Get them out, rinse (several times) and dry. I used multiple dye catchers to see how well I was doing with the rinse. Now I have a great pair of navy/plum pants with turquoise low lights. I love them.
What dye experiments have you done lately?
