"Bitmap"
This piece reflects a small part of the interesting personality of the breed of dog known as a Basenji. When coming up with a quilt for the theme Maps what came to mind was the Basenji's love for paper. I imagined the dog staring at the map on the wall and not being able to resist having a piece of this prized trophy, scheming a way to get it for himself. The scene is meant to show how proud he is of having torn off the bottom of the map and possessing a piece of it to shred into even smaller pieces. Technique: Soft edge applique on wool felt base. Hand painted. Free motion quilting. Materials: Wool felt, hand dyed, batik and commercial cotton. Stewart Gill paint and buttons. 30" x 50" $1600.00 First displayed at the Long Beach IQF show 2013, and Houston 2013. Special exhibit "Maps" for Quilts on the Wall. |
